Aggie joins them in the waiting room as Athelstan, Ragnar and Mags arrive.

She hugs each of the Few in turn, nodding to the others. “They’ve sent him in for an MRI straight away. He lost consciousness almost as soon as he was in the ambulance. They tell me that’s not unusual and not to worry.”

She crosses her arms, hugging herself a little, “But beyond that, they won’t tell me anything else. I’m not family.” She sounds just a little bitter about that. “I guess all we can do is wait.”

"At least for one. But why do you even want to?"

"Because you made me realise that is one experience I can't put a check to yet," Ragnar says. "Totally something I want to try."

[athelstanthescribe]

"Hm. Fair enough. But I'm not going to paint anybody until Sin's at least out of the hospital."

[bigarmy_strangepants]

"Of course," Ragnar says. "But I want to do it at least once. Really."

[athelstanthescribe]

"Then we'll fix up a time later."

[bigarmy_strangepants]

"Deal!" Ragnar says, grinning and honking his car horn.

Which is rather wheezy, like the entire conveyance.

Athelstan laughs quietly, which is the best Ragnar is going to get tonight.

"Tell me when to stop."

[athelstanthescribe]

He peers out the window at the passing buildings.

"Not far now."

[bigarmy_strangepants]

Ragnar slows down even more, to give Athelstan the chance to spot his building in the dark, and say 'Stop' in time for him to actually stop.

Eventually, he does.

Ragnar stops, slowly, bringing the little kei-car to a very smooth halt. "It was great to meet you, but I wish it had been a nicer reason," he says. "Hell, that thing with Sin is really worrying. I like him a lot."

Athelstan nods.

"They're taking good care of him. And I'm sure we'll meet again."

[bigarmy_strangepants]

"We have to, for you to paint me, even if we don't talk at all."

[athelstanthescribe]

"Yeah. So, we'll figure it out."

[bigarmy_strangepants]

"Yep," Ragnar says. "So I guess I'll see you when you come to Sin's flat when you get more stuff for him. Or, wait, I can give you my phone number -- we live in the future now, after all, and all have these little phones to reach people."

"I don't use mine much, and it's not here. Write it down for me?"

Ragnar gets a half-crumpled receipt for petrol from the dashboard, and writes his number -- an Italian one -- with a rather blunt bit of pencil.

"Can you read that?"

[athelstanthescribe]

He peers at it and nods.

"I think so."

[bigarmy_strangepants]

"I'd be in trouble if I didn't carry my phone," Ragnar says. "So you can reach me whenever you need me."

"I'll see you soon. One way or another."

[bigarmy_strangepants]

"You definitely will!" Ragnar declares.

[athelstanthescribe]

He nods, pockets the paper, and slides out of the car.

"Bye, and good night!"

Ragnar watches him until he's safely inside his building, then drives off.-
